Multicultural Counseling and Research Techniques

This course examines the historical and current values, problems, issues, concerns, and support needs of special population groups including, but not limited to age, gender, race, ethnicity, culture, immigration status, socioeconomic status, physical or psychiatric disability, sexual orientation, and gender identity. The role of power in the helping relationship will be examined with regard to social and cultural identities and viewing both the service provider and the client within the context of the larger society. Emphasis is on the importance of self-awareness and examining personal biases and prejudices. Through the utilization of research methods, design, and data analysis students will also examine cultural trends to support their understanding of the evolutionary elements of multiculturalism in counseling.

About Your CourseĀ

Where to BeginĀ 

  • To begin your course successfully it is highly recommended that before you start any of your assignments that you take time to review yourĀ course syllabusĀ in its entirety. Your course syllabus is essential to passing your course effectively. As you review make note of your course objectives and student outcomes. Course GradesĀ 

  • Student must pass each course with a passing grade of 80% or higher.
  • Grades below 80% may be subject to academic review and in some cases academic probation.
  • All academic grading criteria is outlined in your syllabus. Please review before starting the course.
  • Finally grades for each course will be posted after “make-up” week.Ā 
  • Students will have 5 days to submit a dispute for any grades or consult their professor with any questions.
  • All grade disputes must be submitted in writing and must follow University guidelines. (See Course Policies)Ā 
  • Grade disputes are typically resolved in 30 days.
  • All students must complete a “Course Evaluation” before final grades can be received.Ā

PlagiarismĀ
